Environmental Control Center
The Problem:
I have one Baurs’ chameleon gecko named Sprout. Her enclosure has a multitude of environmental parameters that need to be kept at a specific temperature or range. This can be done with timers and automatic technologies such as misting systems, but they are very expensive and lack nuance to account for fluctuations in the environment.
The Solution:
An environmental “control center.” This device utilizes an Arduino to control a misting system to regulate the humidity and a separate Arduino to control LED lights to create a day/night cycle for the geckos. The misting system relies on an RTC to trigger the system to go off 4 times a day for 10 seconds, and the RTC on the LED controls the lights by slowly powering them on over the course of 5 min at 8 am, and turning them off in the same way at 8 pm.
